E. Integrism

The further integration of the European countries underwent eurocratic departures which evolved gradually into institutional intergrisme and aggresive legalism. The major principle of subsidiarity became gradually obsolete in favour of subsisies and complacent credits. The former Belgian Prime-Minister Guy Verhofstadt, whose candidacy to the Presidency of the EU Commission used to be rejected by the UK, and whose federalistic and intergristic positions are well known, was nominated as negociator of the Brexit.

10. Charles Villiers Stanford geb. 1852 – The fairy Lough
[Marc & Hélène]

The ghost carriage pulled by two horses which was crossing an Irish lake under the authority of a Colonel, resembles the present non-transparent Europe. We need some more „Britisch flegma“ to tame this monster. We will miss their „pragmatic“ and „no-nonsense“ approach.

Lough-a-reem-a! Lough-a-reem-a;
Lies so high among the heather;
A little lough, a dark lough,
The water’s black an’ deep.
Ould herons go a-fishin’ there,
An’ seagulls all together
Float roun’ the one green island
On the fairy lough asleep,

Lough-a-reem-a! Lough-a-reem-a;
When the sun goes down at seven,
When the hills are dark an’ airy,
‘Tis a curlew whistles sweet!
Then somethin’ rustles all the reeds
That stand so thick an’ even;
A little wave runs up the shore
An’ flees, as if on feet.

Lough-a-reem-a! Lough-a-reem-a;
Stars come out, an’ stars are hidin’;
The wather whispers on the stones;
The flittherin’ moths are free.
One’st before the mornin’ light
The Horsemen will come ridin’
Roun’ an’ roun’ the fairy lough
And no one there to see.

11. Benjamin Britten geb. 1913 – The miller of Dee
[Marc & Hélène]

„I care for nobody, no, not I, if nobody cares for me“

Eurocracy has become a water mill with own logic, however too far from the daily concern of the respective member States. The ambiguous position of Europe towards the many surounding conflict areas is destabilizing the whole of Europe. The Bologna uniformisation of the high school system along three stages on the basis of a pseudo-criterion (ECTS)  has pulled  hair of many teachers and agressed too many nerves.

There was a jolly miller once lived on the river Dee;
He worked and sung from morn till night, no lark more blithe than he.
And this the burden of his song for ever used to be:
“I care for nobody, no, not I, if nobody cares for me“.

“I love my mill, she is to me like parent, child and wife,
I would not change my station for any other in life.
Then push, push, push the bowl, my boys, and pass it round to me,
The longer we sit here and drink, the merrier we shall be.”

So sang the jolly miller, who lived on the river Dee;
He worked and sung from morn till night, no lark more blithe than he.
And this the burden of his song for ever used to be:
“I care for nobody, no not I, if nobody cares for me.”
